Cookie Policy

Last updated: July 14, 2026

This Cookie Policy explains how Suadeo Technologies Limited ("Suadeo"), the owner and operator of Sinatabu ("we", "us", "our"), uses cookies and similar technologies on our website and applications (the "Service"). It should be read together with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your personal information more generally, in accordance with the Data Protection Act, 2019 (Kenya).

1. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device when you visit. They are widely used to make websites work, to remember your choices, and to provide information to the site's operators. We also use similar technologies such as your browser's local storage, which work in a comparable way. In this policy we refer to all of these simply as "cookies".

2. Categories of cookies we use

We group cookies into four categories, matching the choices available in "Manage cookie preferences":

  • Essential cookies. Required for the Service to function — for example, to keep you signed in, secure your session, and remember that you have responded to this cookie notice. These cannot be switched off.
  • Functional cookies. Remember your preferences and choices (such as a language, appearance or an in-progress find) to give you a better experience.
  • Analytics cookies. Help us understand how visitors use the Service so we can improve it. These are only used where you have given your consent, and you can withdraw it at any time.
  • Marketing cookies. Would be used for advertising or remarketing. We do not currently use marketing or third-party advertising cookies; the category is shown for completeness and in case that changes in future.
3. Cookies and similar technologies we set

The main cookies and storage items used by Sinatabu are:

Name Category Purpose Typical duration
PHPSESSID Essential Maintains your signed-in session and secures requests. Session (until you close your browser)
member_login Essential Supports the "remember me" option by identifying your account on return visits. Up to 30 days
remember_token Essential A secure, rotating token that accompanies "remember me" to keep you signed in safely. Up to 30 days
cookie_consent Essential Stores your cookie preferences (which categories you have allowed). 1 year
privacy Essential Records that you have responded to the cookie notice so it is not shown again. 30 days to 10 years, depending on your choice
qookie Functional Temporarily saves a find you are creating so it is not lost if you sign up part-way through. 24 hours
sinatabu_telemetry_token (local storage) Analytics Groups your usage events into a session for our first-party analytics. Only used with your consent. Until cleared
_ga, _gid, _gat Analytics Set by Google Analytics to measure how the site is used. Loaded only after you consent to analytics. _ga up to 2 years; _gid 24 hours; _gat 1 minute

This list covers the cookies most visitors will encounter. The exact cookies present can vary depending on the features you use and whether you are signed in.

4. Third-party cookies and services

Some cookies are set by third parties that provide functionality on our behalf. When you consent to analytics, Google Analytics sets the cookies listed above to measure site usage (we enable IP anonymisation). In addition, certain third-party services we use may set their own cookies when you interact with them — for example, Paystack during payment, Google or Apple when you sign in with them, Google reCAPTCHA for bot protection, and Firebase Cloud Messaging for web push notifications. These third parties process data in accordance with their own privacy and cookie policies. For the full list of the third-party providers we share data with, see Section 7 of our Privacy Policy.

5. How analytics consent is applied

We do not load analytics cookies until you have given consent. When you choose "Accept All" or enable Analytics in your preferences, analytics is turned on; when you choose "Decline All" or leave Analytics off, we do not load Google Analytics and our first-party analytics does not collect events. You can change your choice at any time using "Manage cookie preferences" above.

6. Managing your cookies

You can manage your preferences for Sinatabu at any time using the Manage cookie preferences button at the top of this page. Essential cookies cannot be disabled because the Service will not work correctly without them.

You can also control or delete cookies through your browser settings, including blocking all cookies or deleting existing ones. Please note that if you block or delete essential cookies, some parts of the Service may stop working. For more information, refer to your browser's help documentation on managing cookies.

7. Changes to this Cookie Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the cookies we use or for other operational, legal or regulatory reasons. When we do, we will post the updated version on this page and update the "last updated" date above.

8. Contact Us

If you have any questions about this Cookie Policy or our use of cookies, please contact us using the details on our Help Desk page or any other official channel listed on the Sinatabu website.
